Minnie Florence Allison Williams, 83, of Huntington, formerly of Charleston, went to the arms of Jesus, July 11, 2018. She was born May 7, 1935. She was met at Heaven's gate by her son, David Owen Williams and daughter, Linda Williams Adkins. Minnie Flo was a graduate of Stonewall Jackson High School Class of 1953, attended Marshall College, where she met the father of her children, the late Thomas O. Williams. She later had the opportunity to finish her education and proudly graduated from WV State College in 1991. Flo was a faithful member of St. Timothy Lutheran Church in Charleston serving in the church, the kitchen and women`s group. She retired from the WV School Service Personnel Association, and never missing an election, enjoyed working as a faithful Democratic poll worker. After retirement she continued to work with the Y.W.C.A. teaching water therapy classes with her groups affectionately known as ''Water Babies.'' She was also a member of the Charleston AARP and the Charleston Democratic Women's Club.
She moved to Huntington with her daughter, Kitty and son-in-law, Charlie where she became an Associate member of Christ the King Lutheran Church, continuing to serve the Lord by helping in the kitchen and with the Greater Barboursville Commmunity Outreach. Flo was a dedicated member of the Teays Valley Bible Study Fellowship, Huntington Chapter AARP, Cabell Co. Democratic Women's Club, Barboursville Lions Club, American Legion Auxiliary Unit #16 and a lifetime member of V.F.W. Auxiliary #9738.
Flo is survived by her loving family, daughters; Kitty Kelly-Smoot (Charlie) of Huntington, Susie Azevedo of Big Chimney, grandchildren; David Owen Williams, Jr., Michael Joseph ''Joey'' Reed, Kristy Kelly Henderson (Chris), Jessica Williams Spettigue (Mike), Sherman John Kelly, Jason Matthew Williams, Matthew Joseph Kelly (Jenna), Alexander Joseph Azevedo, special daughter-in-law, Marie Williams, 10 great-grandchildren, and a host of cousins. Special friends, Jeri McDonald and Norma Adkins, will miss her dearly, as will her beloved cats and grand-dog Annie.
Kitty and Susie would like to thank Flo's numerous caregivers, especially over the past 2 years.
There will be three Celebration’s of Flo’s life, the first to be held Thursday, July 26, 2018 at 6:00 p.m. at Christ the King Lutheran Church, 5700 Rt. 60 East, Huntington, WV 25701, with Pastor Carl Ames officiating. Family will receive friends 1 hour before the service. The second to be held on Saturday, July 28, 2018 at 12:00 p.m.. at St. Timothy Lutheran Church, 900 Lawndale Lane, Charleston, WV 25314, with Pastor Jamie Strickler officiating. The family will receive friends 1 hour before the service. The third is to be decided with her friends and family at Huntington Health and Rehab Center, 1720 17th St., Huntington, WV 25701. Urn burial will be held at Sunset Memorial Park, South Charleston.
In lieu of flowers, family suggests donations be made to St. Timothy Lutheran Church, Christ the King Lutheran Church, Hospice of Huntington, 1101 6th Ave., Huntington, WV 25701 or Huntington Health & Rehab Center Recreation Department.
